Brazil waiting on Neymar news as Tite dismisses idea of ´easy´ draw

Tite warned Brazil must be very careful in the knockout stage of the World Cup, when they will hope to have Neymar back from injury.

The Selecao lost 1-0 to Cameroon on Friday but still topped Group G, meaning they will face South Korea in the second round, rather than Portugal.

Spain s defeat the previous day appeared to open up the draw further for Brazil, who would now play the winner of Japan s clash with Croatia in the quarter-finals.

Regardless of their opponents, Brazil will feel more comfortable once Neymar is back in action, but he has not yet trained with a ball following his matchday one injury.

Team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar added: With 72 hours before the next match, we have time on our side. We still have possibilities.

Benzema to stay at Real next season

France international Karim Benzema will stay at Real Madrid next season, according to his agent.

The Spanish club s general manager Jose Angel Sanchez was quoted as saying earlier in the week that Benzema would remain at the Bernabeu, with Argentine Gonzalo Higuain heading for the exit.
He told Le 10 Sport: In a big club like Real Madrid, it is assumed there is space for two or three high-level No.9s.
It was Benzema and Higuain. Higuain will go, Benzema will stay, and two others will arrive.
Benzema s agent Karim Djaziri has now confirmed that his client will not look over offers from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain or Juventus either.
He said: As I have already said on numerous occasions, and I will never get tired of repeating it, my client will not be leaving Madrid.

Rice considering England switch – Ireland boss O´Neill

Declan Rice has been contacted by England and may opt to represent the Three Lions instead of Republic of Ireland, says Martin O Neill.

The West Ham teenager has started three friendlies for Ireland, making his debut in March, but is able to change allegiance as he has not yet played a competitive fixture.

Rice has not been named in O Neill s preliminary squad for Ireland s meeting with Wales in the Nations League on September 6.

And O Neill fears the 19-year-old, who can play in either defence or midfield, may make the switch to England.

He is still deliberating. He is a young man, O Neill said.

England have spoken to him. He is taking time to make his mind up. He has done brilliantly for us. I m giving him a little bit of time.

I wou…

BREAKING NEWS: Messi beats Van Dijk and Ronaldo to FIFA Best award

Lionel Messi saw off competition from Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk to win The Best FIFA Men s Player award for 2019.

It is the first time Messi has won FIFA s flagship individual award since it split from the Ballon d Or and rebranded in 2016.

The Barcelona and Argentina superstar came second behind Ronaldo in 2016 and 2017, before missing out on the top three altogether last time around.

A five-time winner of the Ballon d Or, Messi now has six FIFA awards to his name overall and was honoured for guiding Barcelona to the LaLiga title in 2018-19 – scoring 36 times in 34 outings.

He suffered semi-final heartache in the Champions League at the hands of Liverpool, who went on to win the European title.

That success contributed towards Van …

Modric won´t stop believing in LaLiga title bid after Madrid´s last-gasp draw

Real Madrid star Luka Modric is not giving up on winning LaLiga following the defending champions last-gasp draw at home to Sevilla.

The title is no longer in Madrid s hands after they were held to a 2-2 draw by rivals Sevilla in a gripping contest at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano on Sunday.

Toni Kroos deflected strike off team-mate Eden Hazard deep into second-half stoppage time salvaged a point for Madrid, who are two points behind leaders Atletico Madrid with three rounds remaining.

Modric, though, insisted Madrid must not lose faith after they crashed out of the Champions League semi-finals.

We were hoping it would be in our hands, but now it s not going to be like that, Modric said post-match. We have to focus on our game, not the others and try to wi…

The Premier League club have said the Ivorian will join the club at a later date, subject to medical, personal terms and work permit .

In a statement on their official website, the club also said they had been tracking Diallo since 2016 when he was spotted playing at Under-15 level.

United have not revealed how much the deal is worth but reports suggest it is in the region of £37million.

Market: Coritiba win

Odds: 1/2 @

Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways late on Friday night, Coritiba will welcome Ituano to the Couto Pereira.

Still dreaming of the chance to book an immediate Serie A return, interim boss James Freitas will be excited to make a return to the Couto Pereira this weekend. Last seen on home soil putting in a thumping performance as they breezed their way to a routine 3-0 victory against Operario, the Parana-based outfit have collected nine points from their first four Serie B showdowns in front of their…

River Plate defeat Colo Colo, Palmeiras take control in Copa Libertadores

River Plate left it late to claim their third successive win in this season s Copa Libertadores group stage, defeating Colo Colo 2-1 in Santiago.

Matias Suarez and Esequiel Barco scored in the final 10 minutes for the four-time Libertadores winners in an overall cagey 90 minutes at the Monumental David Arellano.

Los Albos had an apparent penalty waved away in first-half injury time, when Paulo Diaz brought down Juan Lucero as he was cutting back onto his right foot to shoot.

Diaz would be prominent again with Matias Suarez breaking the deadlock for River in the 83rd minute, though. The Chile international and former Colo Colo player quickly won back possession before playing through Marcelo Herrera, whose cross was not dealt with, and Suarez was on hand to punis…
