Tottenham 1/3 to beat Southampton in Tuesday’s Premier League clash

Competition: Premier League

Market: Tottenham to beat Southampton

Odds:

The Premier League is back for yet another enthralling instalment in England s top league. The festive period is already proving to be one that each and every team is having to battle through as the games continue to rack up. With this in mind, the players are back out on Boxing Day as Tottenham host Southampton on Tuesday.

Tottenham have been in good form lately as they look to bounce back from a run of games that saw them lose a massive amount of ground on Manchester City at the top. In their last five they have won three matches, drawn once and lost once, which has helped them onto 34 points for the season. They are currently a single point behind fourth-placed Liverpool,…

Tottenham 23/20 to win away to Hull City this afternoon

Competition: Premier League
Market: Tottenham to win against Hull City
Odds:

Tottenham are having a poor start to the season under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Londoners recently lost their fifth game in 11, losing 2-1 at home to Stoke City. Spurs have found it difficult laying at White Hart Lane this season, and could relish being the away team this afternoon.

Hull City will be a challenge, however. The Tigers have already picked up points against Arsenal, Liverpool, but they haven’t been as impressive on home soil. City have lost two and drawn two of their five games played at the KC Stadium, which will give Tottenham hope of getting a result.

Pochettino’s men have picked up eight points on their travels this season, which is better t…

Diego urges Turan not to leave Atletico

Diego has told Arda Turan to ignore any temptation to leave Atletico Madrid this January and continue his contribution to the club.

The Brazilian spent the 2011-12 season on loan at Atletico, scoring three times in 30 La Liga appearances.

And he was in no doubt of the importance of Turan to the side.

He s playing perfectly, the 27-year-old midfielder told AS.

He s a very creative player, of which there are many. Arda should continue at Atletico. If he leaves, I think he would be making a mistake.

Diego also spoke fondly of his time in the Spanish capital last season and praised los Rojiblancos performances so far this campaign which have seen them occupy second place in La Liga, seven points clear of Real Madrid.

The team are doing ph…

Lampard not yet considering transfer window despite Everton defeat

Frank Lampard is not yet thinking about freshening up his squad in January despite a chastening 3-1 defeat at Everton on Saturday.

Everton were led by caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson for the first time, with the Scot taking the reins from Marco Silva following his dismissal two days ago.

The former Everton striker inspired the Toffees to get back to winning ways, with Richarlison opening the scoring and Dominic Calvert-Lewin getting a brace either side of Mateo Kovacic s strike.

Chelsea s performance, particularly defensively, laid bare some of the issues in their squad, with centre-backs Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen particularly poor.

It ends in disappointment on Merseyside.

Burkina Faso 0 Gabon 2: Aubameyang and Evouna on target

Goals in each half gave Gabon a winning start to their AFCON Group A campaign against 2013 finalists Burkina Faso.

Gabon continued their impressive recent record against Burkina Faso with a 2-0 success in their opening Africa Cup of Nations Group A game in Bata on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored against the run of play to give Gabon a first-half lead before Malick Evouna added a second with 18 minutes left.

Paul Put s Burkinese  who finished as runners-up to Nigeria in the 2013 edition of Africa s continental championship  had appeared to be in complete control early on.

However, they were once again undone by Jorge Costa s men, having finished behind them in their qualifying group following a defeat and a draw in…

FIFA boss slams poor performance of host team

FIFA president Sepp Blatter said on Monday he was disappointed with the recent performance of the national team of the 2010 World Cup host country South Africa.

I am disappointed that during the years since 2004 when this World Cup has been given to South Africa the national team is not better, Blatter told journalists after a visit to the building site of Cape Town s Green Point Stadium.

He said it was incredible that Bafana Bafana had gone from being the African Cup of Nation champions in 1996 to failing to even qualify for the crunch tournament in 2008.

I cannot understand it. It is the last moment now to move do something, move it, he said.

The FIFA president, who is making a courtesy call to a few of the country s stadiums on a visit to meet wit…

Sevilla 2 Atletico Madrid 5: Griezmann hat-trick sinks sorry hosts

Antoine Griezmann scored a brilliant hat-trick and Diego Costa celebrated his 100th LaLiga appearance for Atletico Madrid with a goal as Sevilla were battered 5-2 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

In one of LaLiga s more testy historical rivalries, it was Diego Simeone s men that turned on the style to earn revenge for a Copa del Rey quarter-final defeat in January.

Griezmann and Costa were in typically lethal form, but Sevilla were on more than one occasion the architects of their own downfall and a moment of unwarranted generosity set the Atleti ball rolling.

Sergio Rico and Ever Banega conspired to play Sevilla into trouble, allowing Costa to celebrate a third Liga goal since re-joining from Chelsea.

As comical as that goal was, the second was textbook…

Milan join chase for Fabregas

AC Milan are weighing up summer move for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, .

The Rossoneri midfield is set to undergo serious changes in the summer and club officials believe the arrival of the Spanish playmaker would be a breath of fresh air.

Milan chiefs hope Mathieu Flamini can persuade his former teammate to join him at San Siro and become part of an ambitious project.

Cesc Fabregas returned to Barcelona in the summer of 2011 after spending eight years at Arsenal, but he has failed to nail down a regular starting berth at Camp Nou.

In spite of scoring goals on regular basis, the Spaniard has failed to impress the pundits and fans alike, and it appears that he could be sold in the summer transfer window.

Since joining Barcelona from Arsenal,…

PSG ´in a rush´ to beat transfer deadline as Galtier fears missing out on targets

Christophe Galtier has warned any further delay in bringing new players to Paris Saint-Germain could scupper his team s chances of glory this season.

Head coach Galtier wants to usher away a number of fringe members of his squad and upgrade the overall quality ahead of a Champions League mission.

Alongside the defence of their Ligue 1 title, the priority for PSG is to land European glory this season, and Galtier has players in mind who he feels can help the capital club achieve their goals.

Two weeks ago, I said we were expecting three new players, Galtier said on Friday.

The likes of Vitinha, Hugo Ekitike and Renato Sanches have already arrived during the transfer window, while Arnaud Kalimuendo, Thilo Kehrer, Angel Di Maria and Georginio Wijnaldum ha…

Clubs circle round Austin

A number of clubs are preparing moves for Southampton forward Charlie Austin, according to the Mirror.

Premier League duo Leicester City and Bournemouth could move for the twenty-eight year old should the Saints fail to avoid relegation while there is also interest from Championship promotion chasers Aston Villa.

The South Coast club currently sit eighteenth in the table and their chances of survival were dealt a huge blow with defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers West Ham United at the weekend.

Austin moved to St Mary’s Stadium in January 2016 and has since racked up forty-six appearances in all competitions, scoring sixteen goals.

Prior to that move Austin had spells with Queens Park Rangers, Burnley and Swindon Town having spent the first f…
