Premier League 2018-19: How the final day unfolded

The final day of the Premier League season is renowned for throwing up unforgettable moments of drama.

The stage was set for more with Manchester City travelling to Brighton and Hove Albion needing win to stave off the unrelenting charge of Liverpool, who faced Wolves at Anfield.

See how the day unfolded here:

1500 A nervy final afternoon is under way.

1503  Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva drives into the box but the Brighton defence manage to smuggle him away from danger.

1514 Riyad Mahrez s shot is deflected into the hands of Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan. City continue to probe at the Amex.

1517 LIVERPOOL LEAD AGAINST WOLVES. Trent Alexander-Arnold s right-wing centre is turned in by Sadio Mane. The pressure cranks up on …

Makoun: Cameroon have learned from 2010

Jean Makoun is confident Cameroon have learned from the 2010 FIFA World Cup as they plot a path to the knockout stages in Brazil.

Four years ago the midfielder was part of a squad that failed to collect a single point from their group matches.

Makoun, who featured in all three games in South Africa, is convinced there is a better atmosphere in the current Cameroon party.

He is therefore optimistic they can escape from a group featuring hosts Brazil, Croatia and Mexico.

What happened in South Africa should not happen again, Makoun is quoted as saying in L Equipe. I think all who were there and will play at the World Cup in Brazil have gained experience and maturity.

We have had four more years. There is a lot of serenity and solidarity in the squad.

NFL Underdogs: NFL Odds, Picks and Predictions Week 15

Last week was Armageddon for NFL underdogs, with just three point spread pups managing to cover.

That’s bad news for a guy who writes a weekly picks column titled “NFL Underdogs” (I escaped with a 1-2 ATS record). But while my fortunes were skewed, others basked in the chalky glow of those favorite-friendly results.

One such person plays in a pick’em pool I’ve taken part in for years now. Username “JKay” topped the leaderboard with a perfect 14 for 14 in their NFL ATS picks last week, including singling out the three lonely underdogs who cashed in. That’s what impressed me most.

I celebrated this miracle on Twitter and while most folks gave it a like and went on their way, a few turds shot down…

Joe Burrow MNF Spotlight: No Chase, No Problem for Burrow vs Browns

Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season wraps up on Halloween with a Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Browns should be scared of quarterback Joe Burrow coming into this holiday showdown, as he appears to be rounding into the form that brought his team to a Super Bowl last year. Like a kid with candy after a trick-or-treating haul, I’ve separated my favorite NFL player props wagers from the rest, only I’m willing to share. Here are my favorite Joe Burrow props for Monday, October 31.

Also, be sure to check out Jason Logan’s Browns vs. Bengals betting preview as well as Josh Inglis’ player prop picks for Monday Night Football.

Texans vs Titans Odds, Picks, and Predictions Week 15: All Aboard the Henry Train in Houston

With C.J. Stroud in concussion protocol and key receivers sidelined, the Houston Texans face an uphill battle as they visit the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, and it’s enough to make the Titans favorites in the latest NFL odds.

Houston, one of the league’s best stories this year, saw its postseason hopes dented by a 30-6 loss to the New York Jets last weekend. Meanwhile, the Titans showed signs of life on Monday night with a stunning comeback win over the Miami Dolphins.

Read on for a deep dive into this Week 15 odds showdown with our NFL picks for Texans vs. Titans on December 17.

Kansas City Chiefs Predictions, Picks, Odds & Season Preview for 2024-25: Red Kingdom Come

When it comes to the Kansas City Chiefs, perhaps the biggest thing standing in the way of a third straight Super Bowl title is themselves.

The offseason has been a dog and pony show for the defending champs, featuring multiple legal issues with various players (headlined by Rashee Rice), Harrison Butker’s controversial commencement speech, and most recently a season-threatening shoulder injury to key addition Hollywood Brown.

None of this has stopped sportsbooks from installing Kansas City as the favorite to win Super Bowl LIX, nor has it put a dent in its win total (11.5 Over -118) or look-ahead lines, which peg the Chiefs as average 5-point favorites in 15 of their 17 games.

That’s the thing about betting on the Super Bowl champ. You&rsquo…

Winless Pompey Cannon fodder as Stoke star nets four in Pelach´s first victory

Four-goal Tom Cannon fired Stoke City to a 6-1 win over Portsmouth on Wednesday, their first triumph under Narcis Pelach extending Pompey s own wait for a Championship victory.

Stoke entered this encounter at the bet365 Stadium just two points better off than their winless visitors and without reward for the bold decision to replace head coach Steven Schumacher with Pelach last month.

But an explosive display from on-loan Leicester City forward Cannon provided what could be a pivotal victory in the Potters season.

Cannon scored only three times in all competitions for Leicester last term but bettered that tally inside the opening hour of his fourth start for Stoke.

Portsmouth were on level terms approaching half-time after Mark O Mahony cancelled out Cann…

Classy Croatia stun Germany in Euro 2008

Croatia bristled with imagination and inspiration as they dealt Germany a 2-1 Euro 2008 Group B defeat here on Thursday in one of the biggest surprises of the tournament so far.

The Croats were well worth their victory which came 10 years after the biggest result in their history when they beat the same opponents 3-0 in the World Cup quarter-finals as they took charge of the group and are now almost guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals.

It will be back to the drawing board for the Germans, who ended the match with 10 men.

After a cagey and dull opening the game burst into life midway through the opening stanza.

Croatia took the lead on 24 minutes with a move of delightful fluency.

Quick, zipped passes and intelligent running off the ball…

Messi pips Ronaldo (and the rest of Europe) to 50 goals in 2016-17

Lionel Messi led the way once again as his goal against Villarreal took the Barcelona star to 50 goals for the season before any other player in Europe s major leagues.

The Argentina captain s goal was typical in its method, Messi dribbling beyond two Villarreal defenders before cutting a shot into the far corner, via a deflection.

With Neymar having opened the scoring at Camp Nou, Messi s strike also took Barca s MSN strikeforce to 100 goals for the third season in a row.

Messi, who reached 500 Barcelona goals with a recent Clasico double, also racked up a 50-goal season for the fifth time in his mesmeric career.

50 Lionel Messi is the first player from the Top 5 European Leagues to reach 50 goals this season in all competitions. Crucial.
